My favorite of seven years photographing the opening day of the Highland Bowl. With very little snow for opening day, you can see ski patrollers shutting down an area to skiers and a very rocky wall on the righthand side of The Bowl. Brutal wind and power make this photo just perfect.

This photo would not be what it is without the two skiers at the bottom right of the frame, showing the scale and how incredibly beautiful it is to experience this hike, feeling so small and alive high above the earth.

Pyramid Peak is my favorite peak from Highland Bowl. When you are up there, you can’t miss it. On a windy winter afternoon, chatting with ski patrollers while waiting to make my descent, I was able to capture the snow blowing off the peak in a perfect way.
